Gore Verbinski
« on: April 23, 2006, 10:42:09 PM »
Verbinski's Filmography:
1. Mousehunt (1997)
2. The Mexican (2001)
3. The Ring (2002)
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
5. The Weather Man (2005)
6. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
7. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)

So far this director hasn't had a miss for me yet and I doubt that will be broken with the two Pirates sequels.  Is anyone else out their a fan of this man's work?

Yeah, I think this guy has a lot going for him. Though i believe Pirates was the luck of casting Depp in a role he could just go off the wall with.

His version of the Ring is still my favorite horror film of the last 10 years. I hope the next Pirate movies are great.

it's also a shame he didn't do the second Ring, which i think was a good idea that just needed a better director.

i've yet to see weather man yet, but it looked good in the trailers, i just haven't been in the mood for that kind of a movie lately.
You know what Jack Burton always says... what the hell?

It seems that not only is Johnny Depp fine with the idea of doing more Pirates movies on down the line if the script is right, but so is Verbinski.  So basically, a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is pretty much guaranteed.  That said, I wouldn't expect it to happen for quite awhile.  Personally, as long as the main talent in front and behind the camera returns and the screenplays are just as good, I see no reason why they shouldn't continue the franchise off and on throughout the years.

Since I haven't made a comment since Pirates II hit screens, I figured I would go ahead and do it now.  I thought it was an absolutely wonderful film and I love it just as much as the first one.  So much so that I have already seen it twice, which is something I do not do too often anymore with my limited funds.

I enjoyed it even more than the first one. I lked the Pirate bit from the
first but not the Undead part. But in the second, Davey Jones and his sea creature
Pirates are so damn fantastic. They have a Kraken, that's all there is to say! A KRAKEN!
A B-Movie creature done with A-money! I cannot get over it!
Interesting character development as well. The best Pirate film next to "Cutthroat Island"!
This is not reality!

Hey, what's that? A new teaser! www.myspace.com/retrograd_film
